EU Follows FDA and Launches Study on Testosterone Side Effects

Comments Off

Three months after the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced it was going to begin studying the safety and side effects of Testosterone drugs which are commonly used to treat low testosterone (Low-T), the European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced that it would also begin an investigation of the side effects of testosterone drugs.

Once the EMA completes its research, the agency will make a determination as to whether or not it should launch a testosterone drug recall, or keep the drugs on the market.

Studies have suggested that treating Low-t with popular testosterone drugs such as Androgel, may increase a man’s risk for suffering a cardiac event such as a heart attack or stroke. More recent studies, including one published earlier this year, have reaffirmed the potential link between testosterone and heart attacks.

The FDA has not issued any official testosterone warning or testosterone recall at this time, but the announcement of the investigation of the safety and side effects of testosterone drugs has alarmed many patients. Men who suffered a heart attack while on testosterone therapy are now investigating the possibility of a testosterone lawsuit.

If you or a loved one suffered a heart attack while treating for low testosterone, contact a testosterone lawyer to see if you qualify for a testosterone lawsuit.
