Distinguishing symptoms of a failed metal-on-metal hip can be difficult and even overwhelming at times. A defective metal hip requires a person to take action fast to avoid corrosion of the implant, metal poisoning and further damage to the surrounding muscle, tissue and bone.
But what constitutes hip implant failure? Patients may experience one or a combination of the following symptoms, which are often signs that a metal hip is causing serious and potentially permanent injuries:

- Swelling in the surrounding area
