Mirena is an intrauterine device (IUD) manufactured by Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals that was approved by the FDA to prevent pregnancy and to treat heavy menstrual bleeding for up to five years.

If you’ve spoken with your OB/GYN, your girl friends or visited the Mirena website so you can make an informed decision, you still may not have all the facts on potential Mirena injuries.

Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of Mirena, is now facing lawsuits by women who claim they were not properly informed of all of the potential side effects of Mirena. Millions of women who received Mirena were not aware of the possibility of the device sliding out of place, slicing the uterus and perforating other organs.

Many who experienced Mirena migration were required to undergo surgery to have the IUD removed before the device’s five year lifespan was completed.
