Pennsylvania Mesothelioma Lawyer Larry Cohan recently achieved a $7.25 Million verdict in Philadelphia.

Cohan filed the Mesothelioma lawsuit on behalf of Edward Merwitz who worked on war ships at the Philadelphia Navy Yard back in the 1960s.  It was during his time at the Navy Yard that Merwitz was exposed to the dangerous, cancer causing chemical known as Asbestos.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure. It can take years, even decades,  for Mesothelioma to develop. While Merwitz was exposed to Asbestos in the 1960s, he was not diagnosed with Mesothelioma until 2010.   While Mesothelioma can take decades to fully develop, once diagnosed most patients only have about four to eighteen months to live.

Sadly, Merwitz lost his battle with Mesothelioma six months after his diagnosis.  But, Cohan was able to achieve justice for his family.  Eight of the nine defendants involved in the Asbestos lawsuit settled prior to or during the trial.   While Rockbestos fought to the end, the jury decided in favor of the plaintiff, ruling that all nine defendants must contribute to the $7.25 Million award.

Larry Cohan and his team at Anapol Schwartz have been advocating on behalf of Asbestos and Mesothelioma victims for over 30 years.  In 1992, Anapol Schwartz achieved a $1.5 Million award for estate of a mesothelioma victim in the Delaware County Pennsylvania Court.  This was the largest verdict at that time for this jurisdiction.
