The interactive presentation was just one of many given by Joel over the course of the last year, as part of EndDD’s distracted driving awareness initiative. Role-playing exercise allowed participants to see how a single of non-attentive driving can lead to tragic life-changing events.
The discussion covered such topics as types of distractions, along with what passengers can do to prevent driving distractions.
An Occupational Therapist compared Joel’s lecture to preventative medicine. “Prevention is ultimately the primary ‘cure’ for the devastating injuries we see. Joel's message has the potential to prevent many of the pediatric spinal cord injuries that happen in this country. His message needs to be delivered and acted upon."
As a personal injury lawyer, Joel represented many families whose lives where tragically affected by an automobile accident, but It wasn’t until his own daughter, Casey, was killed that he was moved to change the way that he drove.
The idea behind Distracted Driving Awareness is to get more people to change the way they drive for the better because they know what can happen and prevent them from experiencing what can happen.
